Never can I ever say no to rosé. Literally I try to imagine hypotheticals…maybe if I was about to take a test or go on stage or was pregnant? Although in all of those circumstances I am sure a spit cup would help me rise to the occasion.
Please read here for more of the cool shiznit that Bousquet is up to–friends to vegans and the environment they are! I enjoyed the last assortment of their wine I tried, so the chance to sample a trio of their latest rosés arose, and I was neither about to go onstage, take a test, nor expecting, I could not wait.
It would have been worth a wait, but I didn’t have to. My findings:
The Domaine Bousquet Brut Rosé is 75% Pinot noir/25% Chardonnay, the secondary fermentation taking place in a tank, yielding fuzzy bubbles and a plush, more fruit forward expression, but there’s a hint of rising bread with a welcoming and a goodly swash of citrus acidity. This is tank method, and as such those rising bread notes are whispers, not shouts, rather pleasant murmurs.
2023 Domaine Bousquet Organic Rosé has a smattering of bitter fruit–like literally all the grapefruits, (white, pink ruby red) against a hint of herbals dancing with salinity. Easy going, thirst quenching.
2023 Domaine Bousquet Gaia Rosé is aromatic of raspberries and joy, white nectarine and earth. On the palate, lithe, ripe but not sweet but toeing the balance. Finishing with a vanilla lick. And a fun grapefruit finish. Super fun, easy to drink, lovely to ponder.
